People from all over the central Kerala throng this rural Village from the 1st day of Vrischika enjoying the 5day event. From centuries back devotees belonging to the various sections of the society used to participate in this fair irrespective of caste creed or religion. The fishfolks from the coastal areas bring sharkfins as their offering to the deity ,Bhadrakali,of the temple and even today it is the major attraction of the fair. Its not usual to have meat or fish as offerings in temples, but here at Thelliyoor it is THE offering most valued ,as it is the speciality of taste of these sharkfins that are brought on to the Vanibham grounds still attract people. Along with all the other agricultural produces and traditional eara crafts the various sects of people gathered on the Vanibham grounds every year. These people at those times were not allowed into the temple premises gathered at the ashram grounds in front of the temple , owned by the Paravanolil family.

For generations the fair is being organised by the Paravanolil Bhagawathy Parempil family. As the successor to this tradition Late Shri.Paravanolil Ramanpillai(founder of Sreeramashram) took great care rendering amenities to those participating in the fair , assisted by his son late Shri.P.R.Damodharan Pillai. Now the fair is organised every year by the Sreeramashram Charitable Society ( found in the memory of Shri.P.Raman Pilla) under the guidance and supervision of his grandson Shri.D.Gopalakrishnan Nair assisted by Mr.Govind.G.Nair(s/o D.Gopalakrishanan Nair).

The fair dating back to the time of barter system is transformed into a fair of varied class items ranging from agricultural produces to electronic goods is a well preserved traditional event of Kerala which is of much news value.

‘Malankavu’ the mountain linga temple of Shiva is owned by the Sreeramashram Charitable society. The tribal form of worship is still practiced and kept to tradition under the strict guidance of Shri.D.Gopalakrishnan Nair. This temple is situated 3kms.from the ashram by road. The form of worship of NATURE that is being practiced at Malankavu paints a clear beautiful picture of our traditions that is based on the awareness and respect for the environment and ecology as we pray for the help and support of the cosmic omnipresent to move into the path of spiritual evolution. The ‘Velan Pattu’ folk prayer songs are sung with accompaniment of the traditional drums ‘Para’ evoking the spiritual energy of nature. It’s this tribal priest of Malankavu temple who performs the initiation of Padayani, the traditional temple dance form, at Thelliyoorkavu Bhadrakali temple on permission granted to him by the head of the family in olden days and now on the permission granted to him by the president of the society. It’s on the basis of the belief that Shiva the mountain linga is the father of the goddess Bhadrakali the presiding deity. To evoke the tamasic shakthi of the goddess to help transcend the material world the blessing of wisdom, awareness and realization that Lord Shiva bestows is the only way.
